AUGUSTIN'S TALE

Hi folks my name’s Augustin the cuddly bear, I bet you didn’t expect to see me there
Bear with me and harken my dispatch, espy the ovum which is about to hatch

Although I’m not really one of your kind, my narrative may your deepest interest find

So lend me your ears and start to pretend, you’ll understand all when you reach the end

Kingdoms of glory have come and gone, names distant memories where light once shone
Vague references in so many history books, the benevolent the magnificent the avaricious crooks
Lest we forget the chronicles of great artisans, whose legacy has spawned deriders and partisans
Illustrious and anonymous seated side by side, homo sapiens stripped naked of pride

Patience has thus reached its sell-by date, no discounts afforded by the hands of fate
The stocks are depleted the shelf is bare, dynamic obsolescence produces wear and tear

Drive to the market browse the on-line store, no reserves left be you rich or poor

No ration books will come to the rescue, neither War nor Peace can solve the issue

Opportunity knocks in a mysterious way, bringing kindred souls into play
Opportunity knocks in the Harvest season, to defy every rhyme and every reason
Opportunity knocks in the heart of the home, and piques the rover prone to roam
Opportunity knocks in the fertile womb, fellows ressurecting from the putrid tomb

The air you inhale a debris of toxic waste, corrupts sight sound smell feel & taste
The fire you warm to at the deaths of night, did many a calamitous skirmish ignite
The water you drink from its very source, soiled as it meanders along its course
The earth you till and bring asunder, causes fauna & flora to resonate as thunder

The Fifth Element the puzzle’s missing piece, did many an erudite’s wonder increase
Knowledge alone is insufficient, led astray are the concupiscent
Laws and rules are made to be broken, lies and untruths so often outspoken
Morals and values propounded for all, pleading absolution before the Wailing Wall

Love thy neighbour as if one of your kin, pay lip service to the temptations of sin
Remain true to your inner self, perch your pride upon the shelf
Goods and wealth come and go, making you feel both high and low
Judge not without a damn good reason, hypocracy is tantamount to high treason

The past the present the future is now, the time has come so take a bow
The curtain is raised for a blessed encore, who can guess what for us is in store ?
The screenplay the props the actors are done, time now to have some fun
The critics review The World is a Stage, Humanity is about to write a fresh page

Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities
You know Augustin’s words ring so true, what makes you act the way you do ?
I mean the bare necessities, old Mother Hubbard’s wholesome recipes
We can make things appear out of the blue, all colours and creeds within the hue

The phoenix stirs in the cherry blossom shroud, a hair’s breadth away from the madding crowd
The cuddly bear the firestarter catalyst, the image of innocence the purest amethyst
Water cascades upon the egg of zeal, Day of Celebration offers a brand new deal
The Fifth Element finally sparks into being, all knowing all hearing all seeing all healing

INSPIRATION - AUGUSTIN'S TALE

There are two types of laws in this world. Those that are made by a Higher Authority and those made by Man. Not until all the laws made by Man are consistent with those of the Higher Authority will we live in a just world. (MLK)
